The best word to use to represent the key thought about strategy is "Future." The entire purpose of Strategic Planning or Strategic Thinking is to prepare for future scenarios or actions! It is not a crystal ball to guess the future. It is a comprehensive analysis of the existing intelligence/information to gain the best understanding of the possible circumstances an organization will face in the future.
